4 Stroller Friendly Trails near Traverse City

Mitchell Creek Meadows: The don & Jerry Oleson Nature Preserve

A 0.9-mile flat, crushed-gravel trail with boardwalks that’s great for strollers and little legs. The parking lot is never too far away, making this a low-commitment option when you’re hiking with babies or toddlers. Public restrooms are available in the Conservation Center during business hours.

Don’t miss the working goats!

Timbers Recreation Area

Timbers has a 0.5-mile universally accessible/stroller friendly trail through a mix of forest, fields, and wetlands, with 4.5 miles of marked and unmarked trails throughout the recreation area. It’s quiet and peaceful, and the shorter accessible trail is just long enough to get outside, reset, and enjoy a little time in nature with the kids.

Leo Creek Preserve | Suttons Bay

Tucked away in the heart of Suttons Bay just off the Leelanau Trail, Leo Creek Preserve is a quiet, peaceful spot to get outside with little ones. A boardwalk leads through the preserve to a creek and gardens, making it an easy little nature outing.

Park at the Leelanau Trail parking lot off 4th Street.

DeYoung Natural Area

A short, stroller-friendly trail accessible from the Leelanau Trail that leads to a fishing pier on Cedar Lake. My kids love exploring the cedar forest around the fishing pier.

For a longer walk, park at the Leelanau Trail Cherry Bend Trailhead and walk to DeYoung Natural Area—it’s about a 30-minute walk.
