Apple Picking At King Orchards
King Orchards is a family orchard in Antrim County with a farm market, bakery, cider garden, and plenty for kids to explore. It’s absolutely worth a day trip from Traverse City!
My kids loved the play yard, running up and down the orchard lanes, and eating fresh apples straight from the trees. There’s a really relaxed, welcoming feel here, and the staff was super friendly. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down and let the kids just play and explore for a while.
Things to Do
Apple U-Pick
King Orchards offers a variety of apples for picking including Premier Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Cortland, Gala, Empire, & more.
Play Yard
The play yard has ride-on toys, a playground, playhouses, and a sand pit. My kids could have stayed here forever.
Cider Garden
Don't leave without trying the fresh apple cider! Adults can also enjoy hard cider in the cider garden while the kids play.
Farm Market & Bakery
Browse the farm market and bakery for fresh goodies and orchard treats to take home.
Pumpkin Patch
They also have a pumpkin patch during the fall season.
Good to Know
Wagons are available for apple picking.
Plan to bring a picnic or pack snacks if you’re making a day of it. There aren't many meal options immediately around the orchard, so you may want to plan ahead or head into Charlevoix to eat.
There is plenty of room for kids to run and explore.
King Orchards is also known for their strawberries and cherries, so it's a spot worth coming back to throughout the year.
Third coast Kids Tip
Make a day of it! King Orchards is a bit of a drive from Traverse City, but I think it's worth it. Pack a picnic, let the kids play and pick apples, grab some fresh cider and bakery treats, and enjoy a slower-paced fall day at King Orchards.
