Friske Farm Market: A Family Day Trip from Traverse City

Friske Farm Market

Friske Farm Market is a family farm market and orchard about 10 miles south of Charlevoix—and well worth the drive from Traverse City.

Between the indoor and outdoor playgrounds, farm market, bakery, and café, there’s plenty to keep the kids busy. You could easily spend a half day here, or make it part of a day trip to Charlevoix.

Things to Do

Indoor Playground
A great option for little ones, especially on a rainy or chilly day. During the busy season, the indoor playground is free and reserved for kids 2 and under. During the off-season, it’s open to kids 8 and under for $5.

Outdoor Playground
When the weather cooperates, the outdoor playground has even more to explore. Admission is $10 and includes the play areas, tractors, mega pillow, mega slide, adventure barn & silo, and zip line.

Farm Market
Browse the market for fresh produce, local staples, gifts, and more.

Bakery
Grab a treat from the bakery while you’re there.

Café
The café serves sandwiches, salads, pizza, wraps, and more, making it easy to grab lunch without having to leave the farm.

Fall Festivals
Friske hosts its Fall Festivals every Saturday from September 19–October 24, from 11 AM–5 PM. The festivities include wagon rides, face painting, inflatables, and more.

Good to Know

  • About 10 miles south of Charlevoix

  • Worth the drive from Traverse City, especially if you’re looking for a half-day outing

  • Indoor playground admission and age restrictions vary by season

Third Coast Kids Tip: Make Friske part of a Charlevoix day trip! Visit in the morning, head into Charlevoix to explore, then swing back through Friske for another round of play before heading home to Traverse City. My kids especially loved the mega pillow and adventure barn & silo.
