Apple Picking Near Traverse City

There’s nothing like Michigan apples! Michigan has no shortage of amazing Farms & Orchards, and while there are plenty of places to buy fresh Michigan apples, these are our favorite spots to pick your own.

Sleeping bear dunes | Port Oneida

Sleeping Bear Dunes has historic apple orchards throughout the Port Oneida area, with dozens of heirloom varieties.

You can pick apples throughout October, and no permission is needed to pick from the park’s apple trees. It’s a fun way to explore the historic farmsteads and get a little apple picking in while you're there.

A few things to note:

  • One bushel per family

  • Do not climb the trees

  • Only pick fruit that is ripe
